  • How to collect sample

Please wash hands prior to collection, the sterile gloves can be used if preferred.

    • Find it fresh, avoid contamination with bedding or the environment, soil hay etc.
    • Use the sterile tweezers to

     a) take the sample, be aware that 100mg's is tiny please see image and  place directly into the bead tube or

     b) take a larger than required faecal sample and place into one of the small sterile bags provided, put the tweezer’s head into the other sterile bag provided and find a flat disinfected clean place to separate out required sample size. The b) method is recommended if the horse is turned out or the droppings are hard or fibrous as it allows the sample to be processed and handled more conveniently than out in the field or stable.

    • Avoid cross contamination with the sample and place into the opened bead tube, ensure the sample is covered by the liquid and secure the screw lid, shaking it if necessary. The liquid acts as a preservative, if it dries out the DNA extraction process may be invalid.
    • Pat yourself on the back! Very well done, place the power bead tube back into the EU and I.A.T.A compliant padded envelop and send back to us.
  • When a package is delivered internationally, it may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and/or fees imposed by the destination country. These charges are typically due once the package arrives in the destination country.
